Dear Neighbour
Well, the summer is well and truly upon us - very hot days and amazing electric storms....occasional flooding from torrential rain.....
The Hacienda restoration is progressing well. I am not sure how many lorry loads of cement it takes to restore our Hacienda but a large amount of lorries keep going in and out. The inner courtyard is planted with lemon/orange trees and two very old olive trees. The newly restored outer buildings have all been re-plastered. The supermarket has been plastered, tiles and aircon installed. It looks like that will not be far from opening. The showers/toilets have been tiled. The dovecote (outside bar) is being worked on and is being landscaped. The final section of the road to Sucina is being constructed. Yesterday Murcia council surveyors were measuring outside Peraleja - so perhaps work will start soon on that section of road. The hill at the back of phase 7 (by the picnic area) is getting some netting - presumably to try to stop the landslides which follow the storms. It's all looking good.
Polaris World tells us that they are planning a tournament from 27th September until 3rd October - The Spanish Professional Open at Hacienda Riquelme. Will this be our inaugural tournament I wonder - with all facilities open? As soon as I know more I will let you know - but this seems a good bet.
Talking of golf - PW have also reduced the prices for golfers - they are currently offering 15€ after 18.30 for 9 holes. Also our golf society on Monday 6 July are playing for 30€ inc a buggy. Great deals I am sure you will agree. The annual membership has also been reduced so make sure you look at the website for more details - click here.
I have mentioned before about contracting a water expert to advise us on the irrigation water and our contract with PW. This person is now on board and will be looking at the quality of the water we are receiving, any alternatives (and the cost for installing those alternatives); he will also be looking into the ownership of the reservoir and the wells on site.
We are currently fine tuning the requirements for the contract for an electrical expert and hope to have this person on board shortly. They will investigate our electrical system and advise us on ways to save money.
The architect is working his way around the buildings and initial indications so far suggest that he has not found anything unexpected. No horrible surprises...so that is good news. But he does agree that there is some very poor construction! More details will follow in due course once all the surveys are competed.
Do you have trouble accessing our pools? Did you know that pool 1.1 has handrails into the pool for easier access? We are shortly to be fitting a handrail into pool 7.1.
We are about to introduce security permits to be displayed in vehicles. La Torre and El Valle already use them. We will start with permits for owners and then after the summer introduce them for visitors and contractors. It is important that we know who is parking where on our estate. It alerts us to people being where they should not be eg contractors/visitors forcing garage doors for some cool parking! We can pinpoint troublemakers and people who don't respect our property. More details will be published as soon as possible.
As I highlighted last month, we had been investigating European claims processes for pursuing our Community Fees debtors directly through the courts in their home country as an alternative to the heavily overloaded Spanish court system. Having concluded this initial investigation we have subsequently contracted the services of a Fees Collection Agency, based in the UK. They will be utilising European claims legislation processes on our behalf to pursue, as a starting point, our largest Community Fee debtors from the UK and Ireland through courts in their own countries. We have already lodged details of these debtors with this agency and they will commence their work this month. We hope to see very positive results within the next months. If you are one of these large debtors, I would strongly advise you contact Resortalia as soon as possible to discuss settling your Community Fees debt. In the meantime we will, of course, continue to progress our other debtors in the Spanish courts.
Due to extreme weather conditions over recent weeks, we have had to call a halt to the treatment of the pool fences. Work will restart in the autumn. We will ensure however that the fence panels are fixed correctly so no-one can pull them off for a quick entry to the pool area! The benches also need further work after they are showing signs of peeling paint, the contractor will attend to these this month.
Summer visitors are nearly upon us - please remind your visitors to abide by our community considerations. Why not print them and leave inside your property. Click here for details. Also why not print off the notice about what not to put down toilets - we have already had to call out the drains engineers...and remember it costs your Buildings budget around 300 euros each time! Click here for details. Print off the emergency telephone numbers and leave that in your property.Click here for details. If we have a power cut, do not try to force open the garage doors - call Security - they will let you out! Remind people with babies that they MUST wear swim nappies in our pools - we have already had to close one pool due to floating waste matter! Don't forget to use water repellent sun products - and to use the showers - so our filters do not get clogged up and broken. Keep off the golf course and buggy track - they are dangerous places to walk or jog. The golf course and buggy track are for golfers!
Are you coming here in July? Have you registered on the 'padron' - the electoral register? If not - please do so - details of how can be found here. It is important if we have any hope of getting the railway station opened that the authorities have 'official' figures to assess the viability. So please do try to register.
The San Javier Jazz Festival started yesterday (2 July) click here for details. And here for details of some of the other festivals taking place locally this summer.
The Saturday morning football kick-about has moved times to 10.00 because of the hotter mornings. Wayne from phase 5 kindly donated some money to buy new footballs so thank you to him. Chris is also organising football for the younger visitors. These will take place every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 09.00 for 1 hour - from Tues 27th July - Thurs 2nd Sept. Just turn up at the multisport pitch but don't forget to bring a bottle of water!
Also the new Sports Area courts are complete and available for Tennis, Padel Tennis and Petanca. The courts can be booked at the Golf Pro Shop ... click here for rates.
After a dismal World Cup for England - and a disappointed Murray at Wimbledon - it just leaves me to wish our adopted home nation "Buena Suerte" in the World Cup and Nadal for Sunday!
Have a great summer - but think of your neighbours, please!
Kind Regards
Margaret Daniels
