Hacienda Riquelme Golf Resort Annual AGM Team Trophy There was a fantastic turnout for the event which was held on Sunday 28th February. There were over 50 entries, so many in fact that we had to add extra tee times. Unfortunately the weather was not as good as we had hoped, cool and breezy, but at least the threatened rain kept away. Teams of four had been drawn, with two best scores to count on every hole, all four on the 9th and 18th, which of course had the usual psychological effect on the teams !
There were prizes and individual trophies for the first, second and third placed teams, prizes for nearest the pin and longest drive (both men and women) and a cup kindly donated by Arthur and Irene Rowley. This will be played for each year and kept in a trophy cabinet we intend to have in the new club house. We would also like to thank Antonio Solarno of Polaris World Golf who also kindly donated prizes.
Many thanks to the team of helpers, Chris Hartley for doing all the cards, Carole Eteson for taking the money, Peter Dyos for acting as our starter, and to Margaret Daniels, our Community President, for turning out so early in less than clement weather, to see the first teams off. A special thank you to Dave Maskens and Lindsey Graham for organising the golf day, and if you did not know already Dave organises our golf society which plays every Monday morning. In case of anyone dropping out, we did select a couple of "ghost players" prior to starting. One of those was Dave himself, which explains why he managed to win a prize in the teams that came second and third ! There were some cries of "fix" when it was also revealed that one of his helpers, Lindsey Graham, had also managed to win a couple of prizes !
Prizes were presented by Arthur Rowley to the winning team of G Collins, J Palmer, A Rowley and L Graham. Runners up were P Howard, P Dyos, W Walker and D Maskens. In third place after a count back were L Molyneux, B Company, J Boggon and D Maskens. Nearest the Pin (men) was won by J Burgess and the women's L Graham. Longest drive (men) was won by B Rutherford and the women's by L Graham.
As the celebrations carried on into early evening, I think it is safe to say that a good time was had by all. We would like to thank you all for taking part, and look forward to seeing you on Monday mornings and at future events. These will be announced on the community website.
HACIENDA RIQUELME GOLF SOCIETY
Good news for all resident golfers on Hacienda Riquelme! Monday 4th January was the first meeting of the Hacienda Riquelme Golf Society and we play every Monday. However we need your support. Polaris have kindly agreed a green fee of 40 euros for those owners who do not have membership to help us get started. Insurance, trolleys or buggies are not included in that price. Membership of the society is open to owners on Riquelme only. If you bring a guest they will pay 45 euros.
